As of April 16, 2016, the cost for a real estate license application is $110. Up $10 for the first time in over 20 years! The deposit for the Education and Recovery account went down to $10 from $30.
MRES offers courses based on the criteria set by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission (known as TREC). Each course offered has an approval category for a certain number of hours and content. To obtain a real estate license, the student must complete Pre-license education for an affiliate broker (which is the state license for a real estate agent). An agent must complete the entire education and license process as outlined by TREC . The education is the first step, however, the state dictates the rest, such as background checks, license exam, application, insurance and fees.
The courses are approved in a classroom, over the internet or by workbook and each has its own approval number which is assigned by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. Prior to obtaining a license, a students identification such as date of birth, social security number, drivers license is required; once a license is issued, the licensee will use the license ID number to report continuing education.
MRES offers classroom courses throughout the year in the evenings and day hours. See the website for available times. MRES website
